Privacy policy

This policy covers Abbie McDonnell (abbie mcdonnell’s personal website). It is written to be read rather than to be impenetrable, and it describes what actually happens on this site.

Who is responsible for your data

This is a personal website run by Abbie McDonnell in the UK. For any question about your data, email abbiem.mcdonnell@gmail.com.

What is collected

There are three ways this site collects anything about you.

• Contact and enquiry forms. If you fill in a form, the name, email address, brand name and message you type are sent to my email inbox so I can reply. They are processed by Web3Forms, a form-delivery service, and are not added to any marketing list unless you separately ask to join one.
• Newsletter sign-up. If you give me your email address to join the list, it is used to send you the newsletter and nothing else. You can unsubscribe at any time, and I will never sell or rent your address.
• Analytics. With your consent, this site uses Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages are read. It also uses Vercel Analytics, which is privacy-focused, collects no cookies and does not track individuals across sites.

Cookies

No analytics cookies are set until you accept them using the banner. If you decline, or ignore the banner, Google Analytics does not load at all. Your choice is remembered in your browser’s local storage so you are not asked repeatedly. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

Affiliate links

Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links. When you click one, the retailer may set a cookie so any purchase is credited to me. That happens on their site under their privacy policy, not mine, and it costs you nothing extra. See my editorial standards for how affiliate relationships are handled.

How long anything is kept

Form messages stay in my email account for as long as the conversation is useful, and are deleted on request. Newsletter addresses are kept until you unsubscribe. Analytics data is retained according to Google’s standard retention settings.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of any personal data I hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted. Email abbiem.mcdonnell@gmail.com and I will deal with it within one month. If you are unhappy with how I handle it, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it.
